Le Mouton Noir

We were responsible for the design, project-management and execution of this restoration project in the French Alps. As a 19th century Savoyard farmhouse its protected status allied with the prominent location in a mountainside hamlet required us to negotiate with the architect and planning authorities in order to preserve design integrity whilst complying with planning requirements.

We chose to enhance the traditional exterior of the stone-built ground floor and first floor wooden barn, but decided upon a more contemporary open-plan interior to the barn conversion. We introduced huge expanses of glass overlooking the valley, under-floor heating, programmable mood lighting and a luxurious mezzanine master bedroom.

The combination of traditional and cutting-edge materials and iconic furnishings, together with a sympathetic restoration of original features, has produced a beautiful farmhouse conversion.
